Welcome to Manna's Vocation Initiative.
In the years to come Manna will be focusing more upon our alumni and developing how our vocations fit into the gospel worldview. During the undergraduate years, we introduce the gospel worldview to our students, but we need to go further. We need our alumni to go out there and live out what this means as they wrestle through issues of calling, concretely living out the gospel in their lives. Towards this end, we have set up a preliminary set of webpage to get the ball rolling.
There are two main parts to our vocation initiative.
1) Teaching - Learning is a critical piece to redeeming our vocations. There are three components to our teaching: a) Conferences & Retreats, b) Recommended reading with online discussion (see below), and c) a growing bibliography of relevant books and articles compiled by you. We currently have a working bibliography for each field and are always looking for new ideas.
2) Discussions - What better way to keep our minds going than a robust discussion. Through our online forums organized by vocational categories we hope to stir discussion of stories, articles, books, and pertinent vocational issues will come forth to encourage, challenge, and edify our participants. Join the discussion!
These two parts are being applied to the following vocational categories:
1) Medicine
3) Law
4) Arts
6) The Sciences
7) The Academy
8) Education (K-12) (new)
If you follow these links you'll see each of the three categories above. Clearly this is a start, but as the years go by we hope that these pages will provide valuable resources and discussion for future alumni and undergraduates. You're involvement will pave the way...
We would love to hear your feedback. For those coming to the alumni retreat, we'd love for you to visit the site and share with us your thoughts.
In Christ,
David
